USD 343 School District Board of Education Elections Scheduled for November 2025

The Perry-Lecompton Unified School District 343 (USD 343) is preparing for its Board of Education elections on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, with four positions up for election: District 1, Position 4; District 2, Positions 2 and 5; and District 3, Position 6. Positions 4, 5, and 6 will each serve a four-year term, while Position 2 will carry a two-year term. All newly elected members will begin their terms on the second Monday in January 2026. The Board of Education typically meets once a month, with additional meetings scheduled as needed throughout the year.

Board Positions and District Boundaries:

The specific boundaries for each district position are as follows:

·      District 1, Position 4: This district encompasses areas west of the Delaware River, including Lecompton Township west of 600 Road, regions south of I-70, Big Springs Township, and Kanwaka Township. This is a new position resulting from redistricting of the school district. No incumbent running.

·      District 2, Position 2 and 5: This district covers areas east of the Delaware River, including the City of Perry, regions north of the Kansas River, Rural Township, and Sarcoxie Township. This position is currently held by Bill Culver. Mr. Culver plans to file for reelection.

·      District 3, Position 6: This district includes the City of Lecompton, areas south of the Kansas River, Lecompton Township east of 600 Road, and North Wakarusa Township. This position is current held by Board President, Nick Fergus. Mr. Fergus does not plan to file for reelection.

Candidate Filing Information

Individuals interested in running for any of these positions must file their candidacy with the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025. Click HERE for additional information.
